We are excited to say that House of James 2 is in the works!

Sergei and his wife Olga have taken the call to be the house parents for HOJ 2. They are still working at HOJ 1 until the completion of the second home. To read their short bios, just click on contacts and scroll down.                            Click Photo to Enlarge >

About the second home:
The house is just over 2,100 square feet and is located just four hundred yards away from the original House of James. There will be three bedrooms, one toilet one shower and a storage closet on the second floor. We are currently putting up walls and installing the ceiling. The first floor will contain the kitchen, family room (already completed), one toilet, one bathtub and a bedroom (already completed). The house sits on a little bit more than 1/3 of an acre. We estimated the cost to make the home ready for kids for around $25,000.

The vision for the second home:
We will house ten kids along with the house parents, in this home. We are planning on taking in kids that are around three and four years of age. The children will eventually attend the local school in the village. It is the same school that the kids attend from HOJ 1. They will also attend our local church there in the village. The actual church building is still in the construction phase. To donate towards this project, please email Sean Johnson (sean@houseofjames.org) on how to best do that.

Needs:
Our most important need is prayer. Pray that God will continue to lead us in His will. We are in need of finances for furniture. That includes beds, dressers, closets, couches, desks, tables and kitchen cabinets. We will also need cooking utensils, pots, pans and silverware. Once we have the kids, we will also need a van. The cost for a used van (2002 – 2003) is around $20,000. Vehicles are extremely expensive in Ukraine.

Arizona District Church of the Nazarene W&W  2006 --

What an incredible experience for the Arizona District team that came out in September 2006.  We were able to accomplish more than ever. Truly an amazing time!  So much was done within those two weeks. With twenty four people on the team and God at the helm, they accomplished more than we could have even imagined. From putting up walls to installing a system to protect the house from flooding, they rocked it.  Here is what they accomplished:  They put up over 1,000 square feet of dry wall, tape, mud and paint all the way up the third floor. They also put up wall paneling (400 sq. feet) on the first and second floor to protect the walls. But that’s not all. They decided to go ahead and install a drain system around the house by implementing over 130 feet of piping in the ground to protect the basement from flooding. But wait, that’s not all. They also put up walls to create an office and hung over four doors in the house. There was also other odd jobs that were done like painting other rooms to cleaning up the outside property and much more.

Because of this team we were able to meet our deadline for bringing in the kids. We are very thankful for the AZ team for coming and also for the other teams that have worked so hard on the house.

Other Groups --

In April of 2006 the Intermountain District of Church the Nazarene sent us two teams who accomplished more then thought possible.

We also had a team from Abiding in Christ in Tucson, AZ that came and ministered to the kids in our village by doing a VBS.

We are looking forward to more teams coming to do the work of God here at House of James. If you are interested in putting together a team, please contact Sean Johnson.
