After years of spiritual blindness, Sean has responded
to the call that God has placed on his life. Moving with
a heart of compassion for the hurting children of
Ukraine. It is the same call God has given to all his
people, the call to pure religion. Caring for others is
what God expects of every Christian.

David
James Platt -- Treasurer
david@houseofjames.org
I have been blessed with a 20 plus year career with the
Arizona Department of Public Safety. After
watching the videos of the kids living underground and
the little girl who shaved her head to protect herself
from abuse, I was set to
jump into the project and help out however I could. The Lord provided an opportunity
for me to go to
the House of James in September 2006 on a work and
witness trip. In December of 2006, I returned with my Wife Julie,
daughters Dyana 16 and Sandra 14 and my son Douglas 12
with the plan to finish the first floor living area.
This trip was a real Blessing to our family and only
cemented our commitment to this project. I know with my
whole heart that the Lord is controlling my involvement
with the House of James.
Rev.
Vitalik Koval -- House Father / Pastor
vitalik_koval@yahoo.com
Vitalik, originally from Kiev, accepted God’s call to be
the father and Pastor to the children of the House of
James. He came to know Christ in 2001 through a Nazarene
Church in Kiev and later became the director of a drug
and alcohol rehab center in the village of Celishe.
After a couple of years serving at the center he felt
the call to be a pastor and started a church plant in
the same village. Once Sean Johnson heard of this, he
asked him, and his soon to be wife, Natasha,
if they would accept the call of being house parents to
the children of HOJ. He and his wife Natasha are not
only parents to their own two children, but parents to
all the kids at HOJ.
Natasha
Koval -- House Mother
Natasha, originally from Vinnitsa, accepted God’s call
to be the mother to the children of the House of James.
She also came to know Christ in 2002 through an outreach
program from the Nazarene Church. When her brother Sasha
was released from prison, he entered a drug rehab center
that the Nazarene church still operates in Celishe. They not only ministered to her brother, but to
her and her mother as well. She and Vitalik were married
in November of 2004. They moved into the House of James
in July of 2006.
Sergie
Yurchuck -- Construction & Maintenance
Sergei, originally from Vinnitsa, took on the call to
help complete the construction of the home of House of
James when Sean Johnson arrived in Vinnitsa, Ukraine in
2003. He came to know Christ in 2002 after his neighbor
invited him and his family to church. Sergei has played
a major role in getting the house livable and ready for
the kids. He has now taken on the call of keeping the
house maintained and helping out with the kids however
he can. He and his family have sold their apartment in
Vinnitsa and are building a home within walking distance
to the House of James to be much closer with the kids.
Olga
Yurchuck -- Head Cook / Tutor
Olga, originally from Vinnitsa, has recently accepted
the call to be the cook at the House of James. She also
helps the children with their homework and other needs
that the kids might have. She is married to Sergei and
they have two boys Vitalik (11) and Igor (16). They are
currently renting a home next door to HOJ until they
finish the construction of their new house. She came to
know Christ in 2002. Olga and Sergei are also planning
on taking orphan children into their home some day.
